I need to replace my brake pads and discs front and back and have seen a mintex pack for about £130.
Given the age of the vehicle 15+ I was considering also changing the calipers and guides as 2 years ago when changing pads, the pistons in the calipers were beginning to pit.
I haven seen a pack which includes pads, discs, guides and calipers all round for £290 stating that discs and calipers were allmakes and wondered if anyone has experience of this brand.
Also seen lots of calipers around the £30 Mark and wondered if anyone had experience of these, no brand mentioned so may be britpart.
How easy is it to refurbish calipers with new seals and pistons as i have access to a good workshop.
Many thanks.

I think allmakes may be motor factors. They probably buy in parts and put them in their own boxes. Just guessing though.

hi

i have done a fair few calliper rebuilds on freelander with good success , personally found it fiddly , but found sitting down at the bench with a cuppa and slowly but surely got them done, bought all new pistons and seals

found the use of an air pump very handy getting the piston rubber seals in, also if u get a shreider valve to put into the bleeding nipple is also easier to attach the foot pump with

there is a very good utube video, will try and find it for u

sorry that's not much help , regarding the other non branded boxes , wonder if they are reconditioned calipers ???

but the more experienced guys on the forum will be able to advise better than myself

this was also the trick i used to get the pistons out

use a foot pump to get the new rubber seals back onto the pistons , easier to control

Britpart, Allmakes, Bearmach... they deliver all the same sh*t aftermarket parts most of them made in China unless they act as supplier for genuine parts but then it's mentioned and the price is higher... dont save on brake parts buy good brand like let's say AP Delphi or TRW, theyr's caliper rebuild kit is good(so said my mechanic who did them for me)

I have put ebc pads on as they are supposed to reduce brake dust and they seem to work well bought them on flea bay a lot better than my local parts shop supplied pads.

totally agree , have always bought genuine brake parts , i always look now at other discos parked up , see quite a few have drilled or slotted discs

believe the trw pads are supposed to be very good
