Hi All
Does anyone know if you can make the rear air suspension on a Discovery 2 TD 5 go up and down buy installing a switch on the dash?
Some of my dogs are old, and the rear tail gate height is too tall for them to jump in, so I want to be able to lower the rear air bags and then pump them up.
I don't mind installing additional pumps etc, and I know the P38 Range Rover can adjust. Just wondered if anyone has done this before.

Hi,

You can buy a green key fob that allows this, but they tend to be expensive, plus it will need to have the car programmed, using a nanocom.
Or there is a guy who sells a dash operated switch kit that can be connected in somehow. If you do a quick search you may find it.

I'm pretty sure that David Pye can still provide the system he designed. If you drop him a PM he'll be able to tell you. He is still a member here.
The main problem is that being an electronic system, there's more to it than just a switch. It involves "proper" electronics with pulsed signals and stuff.

there's always the other option of having the boot door open reverse up quickly then putting ur brakes on, before u know it they should reach the park in just a few seconds :p
 
You could try moving the hinges on the back door from the side to the bottom of the door.
That way, you won't have to go to the bother of buying a silly dog ramp, the door will become one when you open it.
Such a door could also double as a "Pooper-scooper". Just open the door, reverse over aforementioned dog poo scraping it up as you go, close door and drive home. Hose out vehicle when full.

Tis not a freelander, the doors do not come off that easy......................:rolleyes:

you've given this some thought :p:D

however my door is the split door system, same as the range rover
 
Hi all
We have got a dog ramp but when my wife takes them out she struggles as they are fairly heavy for her, and they are Ali!!!
You can't shoot the dogs, par of the family!! The wife would shoot me first
I have fitted the kit from eBay and it works well, reducing the height enough to make it easy for the older dog to jump in!
Just got a problem now that the key fobs will not unlock the car and the alarm goes off when unlocked with the key! Nightmare

I take it the key problem is not linked to the addition of the suspension mod?

do the little red leds light on the fobs?
Have you got your EKA code?

I did the suspension mod about 5 days ago, and the car has been fine. Only tonight the car had decided not to open.
I did the EKA to get the car home from the park after walking the dogs, but it won't unlock with the fob. The fob has the red light and I have replaced the battery in the fob too tonight.
Not sure if there is anything under the passenger footwell I could have dislodged when I connected a few wires for the suspension mod.
