I have carried out some extensive work on the ace system: replaced all hoses, replaced transducer and now i am at a point where i have no warning lights, no error codes and no weird noises. all good i think, except in my opinion it is leaning a bit too much in the corners, i think it used to be a lot better. What could be the cause of this? parameters look good, it is pumping up to about 100psi in the corners, no leaks.
 
What size are the hoses?

Especially the pump ones?

What pressure are the hoses rated for, they may be bulging a little?

Also check the rest of the suspension and ARB mounts.
 
pump to valve are 10mm ID, the rest are 6mm. They are high pressure hydraulic hoses, rated at 400bar
 
I use 1/4 hose on the front ram and it does make the system lazier. You would need to use 3/8 i guess all round.
 
ok, so I would just need to change the high pressure hoses from the valve block to the ram to 3/8?
 
I run 1/4 BSP ram pipes with no issue, but pump are 3/8 BSP.

May be worth trying 3/8 BSP front ram pipes.
 
Are you 100% sure that the hoses to the actuators are well connected? i had the same issue after the pipes were replaced cos the schmuck mechanic who did the job that time connected them the other way around in the block (it was 12 years ago when i knew too little about the system). So the rear actuator got HP on the LP side and vice versa, the system doesnt consider it a fault as the hydraulic circuit is closed but the vehicle behaves the opposite way than it should, i realised only by comparing it with a friend's vehicle following the pipes from the block to the actuator

I THINK they are connected as they should, but i ve been wrong before haha. Is there a clear diagram somewhere? the one on rave is not that good

I was using back/Bottom when plumbing them up, but can't remember front
so the bottom port on the valve block in the rear is connected to the port closest to the rear of the car on the actuator, which i think is correct. However if I assume top/bottom front valveblock ports shopuld be connmected in the same way, they are the other way round! might be worth switching them and see how it goes! @sierrafery this should not have any disastrous effects right?
 
Nothing bad happens to the system if you conenct the ram pipes the other way around only that you'll feel like in a small boat on a wavy ocean while cornering fast especially in S curve, i drove it for many days that way untill i figured out what was wrong, in my case the front was well but the rear was wrong... if you reverse them on the front and it was wrong before then the ACE will start working as it should

yeah, it does feel like a boat on a roundabout, no where near as flat as i know it can be. ill give it a go tonight and will let you know how it goes

luckily the hoses were still marked with colored tape (I had used to supposedly make sure I fit them back in the right order :facepalm:):

Indeed the fix did work, took it out for a spirited drive and it was a totally different car this time, so very happy that it was just a cock-up from my end !
