Hi, i have a land rover discovery td5 gs 5 seater with storage bins. i opened up the bonnet and was having a quick search around as i have just bought it and after reading about the ace system i have realised the reservoir was empty then a further look only the top hose is there. Would anyone know the reason for this does my model not have the ace system or is it just inactive any help greatly appreciated?

Sounds like it has been removed the pipes are prone to leaking and cost quite a bit, the header tank on mine which doesn't have ace just holds the power steering fluid yours should be the ace and power steering fluid side by side.

Yes.

If it's running OK and there is no fluid then the pump must have been replaced by an idler otherwise it would have seized up.

It may have had non-ACE anti roll bars fitted. If it hasn't then it will handle very oddly as effectively the ACE bars either will be far too stiff (if the fluid is still in them) or too sloppy (if they're empty).

Hi, As somebody who has had two different fluid leaks which resulted in costly breakdowns ,I decided to replace the ACE and have never looked back. I did this myself for about €400 I now have a more reliable car and the handling is not much different .Replacing/repairing the ACE is a moneypit. Yours may have been done already but you should check if it has been done correctly as Ian above has stated .

totally agree it is a money pit, my rrs had been serviced recently, 2 weeks later ace warning light comes on, took lr they told me it was the compressors, another bill for £585...i have had this 2007 hse for a year so far it has cost me nearly 5k on mechanicals
