hello all,

its been a while, im sure there are loads of posts about ace.

so mine is now fully broken. i had fire and everything. luckily its out and wasn't alight for long. i'm planning to just get rid of it now. i know i have to change the anti roll bars and everything. but until i have enough money can i just take the pump off and fit a non ace belt with the tensioner which will be purely to get it home as its stuck at work???

any help will be much appreciated

Hi, if you are determined to get rid of ACE(which IMO is a shame) then untill you convert it properly to conventional anti-roll bars you can simply cut the pump outlet's rubber pipe and be handy to join it with the return to the tank cos then the pump will recirculate the fluid and as long as the pump was primed and the fluid flows well nothing bad can happen

thanks. im going to take the pump off anyway and replace it with the tensioner anyway. and then further down the line change the roll bars

Sounds like the pump caught fire after running out of oil.

If you can find a cheap pump repair is cheaper than replacement

Hi Folks,
so after trawling through the forums today I've discovered you seem to be the Guru's when it comes to ACE. So.......I bought a disco2 v8 on an LPG conversion, back in March, i have a good cheapish, welder who is (a very grumpy) friend of the family and left in the garage with him until he found the time to fix the MOT corrosion fails. 4 Months later its almost good to go, i've been told it wont pass emissions, so it has to go back to the LPG garage to have the LPG re installed (removed for welding safety) before doing the MOT. I'll probably investigate the emissions at a later date.
The Amber ACE light is on. I did some googling, saw the ace filler was empty topped it up and drove it round the block. a few days later it doesn't look like it leaking but has gone anywhere. The garage had a look at the fault codes but could really see what was going on ( the mechanic that did it wasn't there today) the code, she thinks she saw off the top of her head was "pihl". I had the kids with me and could hang around as everything is done veeeery slowly there, although the service and out comes are great. My thinking and Question is this....... Has someone de-activated or taken the ACE off, and if they have how can i tell?
I'm sure the LPG garage is a bit more knowledge able (hopeful) about Land rovers and will sort it, but due to it not be able to go in till Monday I wanted to at least get any parts in as i've now sold my car to pay for the work that needed doing on the disco, and don't want to be off road too long.
cheers in advance!

Look under the front RHS of the vehicle just in front of the tyre in the wheel arch. You will see a ram with rubber gaitor if you have ace fitted. That doesnt mean it hasnt been deactivated tho. Check pump circulates oil and all pipes are there not cut. No oil in reservoir is bad and will knacker your pump pretty sharpish.
You can deactivate the ace and block off the rams with washers after cutting pipes and modding pump or belt. It will work and give you some form of anti rollness. But a used pump is cheaper and a better option.
