Hi all ,ace system sprang a second leak in a month this time from where the pipes go into valve block, last time it was up at the pump, looked at it Sunday and decided that I could not keep changing bits on ACE system as every time we are without discovery for at least a week and it can be a pain as it is the only thing that will pull the digger, so decided the ACE had to go, ordered a kit for ace replacement from island 4x4 Monday morning (Christmas eve) arrived 9am this morning in south west France 4 days later over Christmas
very good service and a good price. I will try and fit it tomorrow any one fitted a kit?
I think I will miss the ace I remember taking a D2 for a test drive when the D2 first came out was told by sales man drive hard at traffic island then just turn hard, handed so well for such a big 4x4 decided there and then I was going to have one but had to wait a bit ( around 10 years to buy second hand one)
Do not go around corners very fast so hope will not make too much difference

After you have fully fitted the 'de-ace' kit (incl the idler and new belt) you will get an ACE light on the dash, you will need to plug the car into nanocom or similar to tell the BCU that ACE is no longer fitted then you will have no warning lights in the dash.

HTH.

Got kit fitted today not too bad to do, the two problems we had where my son had mislaid the locking wheel nut key, we spent a hour looking for key, ended up making something to get them off, other problem was we have a gearbox out of my sons car and that is on blocks where we normally work so had to do it in gravel drive and that is in not on gravel drive, which makes everything harder, changed rear discs at same time and fuel filter, nee to plug it in to the nanocom so at moment light is on but all works well, does it drive any different ? I think if you took it around a race track before and after there would be a big difference in time but for normal driving of a car 19 years do not think it will be a problem and can not see any great change in handling at normal speeds, as we finished packing tools away found the wheel lock key in gravel in dark, why we could not see it in the morning? but good to find it

Thanks I just wondered if the kit you used was universal or does it make any difference to what spec disco you have mine is a 7 seater on air / self levelling suspension / air-con ES model or is it just fit an forget or I could put heavy duty drop links on rear as do tow I've also got hawkeye can this be used to clear warning lights cheers

Some kits say they are just for 5 seaters my kit did not have much information and just said D2 td5 do not know if landrover made a non ace 7 seater so that might be why the some sellers say it is for 5 seater as if there was a problem with insurance there would be no comeback on them, kit is simple and can not see why it would not be exactly the same kit for 5 or 7 seats I changed because things had started to go wrong and did not want to spend time changing all the bits one at a time as they failed

Thanks how easy was it to rip out the old system/ did you remove all the pipe work? Did you also change out the twin resisvoir or just blanked it I understand about what you said I to don't want to be chasing extra cost later on I'm looking at all options available to me as I've been quoted £650 to replace to non ace cheers

the kit was a bit under 400 pounds delivered here, I just blanked off resisvoir, cut pipes and pulled them out I have left part of return pipe as think I would need to take lower engine cover off to get that out and will pull that out next time I need to take lower cover off, all parts came off with no problem and no broken bolts but the D2 has been here since new they never salt the roads here and we are over 100km from the sea, the car is on its first exhaust and most cars here go to the breakers with there factory fitted exhaust, so rust is not the same problem, a car that live near sea where the roads where salted could be a lot harder, If no problem could do in under 4 hours,

Thanks will look into non ace kits in the new year but does anyone know if hawkeye would turn off warning lights

IIRC hawkeye can't do that but you can hack that simply by removing the ACE ECU and bridge pins 11 - 36 in the plug and let it so

Hi I've been rethinking about keep the ace set up on my discovery td5 ES spec and purchasing a modified valve block and replacing the rear and front pipes to both rams and the other two fronts where they join at the o/s wheel arch with hydraulic hose my question is has anyone done this modification before and what's envoled as mine gave out one pipe by the o/s outrigger also where possible to obtain made up hose from and what lengths I would need thanks

Thanks for your quick reply just somemore questions where the two pipes join from engine bay I'd like to keep them joined but cut them perhaps 2-3 inches from joint and fit the compression joints there what did you use to cut pipes with? And was those lengths of pipe ok in extra length

Cut with disc in angle grinder, you can do short ones.

Look on D2BC for their ACE thread

Thanks I'm already on D2BC ( lynx40) but my iPad refuses to share posts I've looked at ACE thread on there I was just asking if this mod had been done and at what cost ? Your answers have been most helpful just got find somewhere to make up hoses

Most hydraulic places will do them.
