Hi all, i have a late 02 Discovery TD5, and recently noticed small spots of fluid on the driveway which appear to be coming from the rear axle of the Disco. On investigation it appears to be ACE fluid (looks, color, smell etc). I've checked the ACE resevoir in the engine bay and sure enough, the level has dropped considerably.

I'm no mechanic but it's definately ACE fluid leaking. I've been underneath the rear of the Disco but can't find any obvious cause of the leak. I would be very grateful for any suggestions/guidance on probably cause and how i might fix it.

Big thanks......

The most common cause of ACE leaks are the pipes from the unit on the chassis under the drivers seat to the ace rams at the axles. It will only leak when the ace operates eg when cornering so it will be hard to spot,so check the pipes along there lenght may be even just wire brush them as you look.

Grab a torch and look at the pipes just above the rear axle

They can rust through where the pipes bend, the water & road salt that gets thrown up under the chassis drips back and pools at the bottom of these bends on its way back down.
