Ok, so while I wait for my break caliper tool..... I'd thought I'd start on the front ACE actuator renewal after it started playing up showing a red fault on the dash.

I was told that the actuator was leaking and that the bushes on the long arm were knocking.

I've managed to undo the bolt on the long arm and it was defiantly evident that the bushes are shot, at least 15mm of play

Anyway, on RAVE - ACE actuator removal, it shows a special tool to undo the nut which looks rectangular followed by what I can see is a normal nut, a socket manages to get on the nut and turns, but the main shaft that runs through the actuator also turns, and doesn't seem to loosen?

My query is has anyone had to obtain this tool or is there another way around it ?

Thanks.......As always

hold the rod with a soft jaw pliers or something untill you undo the nut cos that tool is just for the nut

By the way, RAVE says the whole torsion bar needs to come away with the long and short arm attached to the actuator, is this your experience ?
