POssibly your heater radiater burst. this would cause hot water and steam to enter lower part of cabin.

Hi hope you are recovering, tough old cars eh, My classic suddenly blew the heater matrix inside and as with you , steam was every where. I thought it was on fire at first but after bailling out and it not disappearing in a big bang I went back in and it was only the matrix. check the hoses as well.
Cheers
Bob

almost certainly the heater matrix or the connecting hoses have blown. seen it happen a few times.
although never to me. it must be a bit feckin scary?

hope your are ok?

It's certainly your heater matrix or hoses.

I had a similar experience in my old MK2 Golf GTI a few years back.... it scared the ****e out of me!!! Fortunately I had work boots on and escaped scalding even though boiling water gushed all over my left foot.

Hope you make a swift recovery.
