Hi, with the ac off switch lit does this mean the ac is off? Is it defaulted to be on all the time? As all other cars ive had ive pressed the switch to turn ac on, and so it illuminates. Is the p38 opposite way round? Thanks, and sorry for sounding like a complete retard, Sam

With the light ON the aircon is OFF.

Mercedes are exactly the same ..except on their Dash it don't even say "Air Con" its a switch in the middle of the dash that says "EC" .... (Which I take to mean "Economy Mode") ......if its lit up the AIR CON IS OFF!!!!!!

Same on the P38 if the light is ON over the "A/C Off" button ....then the Air con is OFF!!!

you had to say merc just to upset me, i is going to sulk now[bloody mercs] lol

so thats why mine didnt work when i recharged it .. thought light would be on to have air con on .. p38 is new to me and no handbook lol

how hard can it be fellas, the button says aircon off and the light confirms the fact!!! so in the same context the tv's on button has a light to confirm its on, etc etc!!

perfectly logical!!!!!

My volvo is the same, they presume people set the aircon to their preference then run with it on all the time instead of the other way around.

With the summer we are having over here at the moment I'm keeping a can of de-icer in the glove box !!!!

It actually makes complete sense - the HVAC unit will only activate the aircon when it is needed; so a switch labelled 'a/c on' would be misleading - the button is there to disable the aircon and prevent the HVAC from switching it on, thus saving some fuel, maybe.... so the light warns you that the a/c is disabled and won't run even if the HVAC thinks it should...

AFAIK, the button is only useful for disabling the a/c compressor when the system has stopped working - as is the case with my car ;-)

Cheers

Jerry
