Ok don't you just love it when bodgers have been at the car. The pixels were shot on LCD display so sent off for repair. Whilst checking glove box fuses noticed that the ABS fuses 30amp and 10amp had been switched around. Obviously the 10amp was blown. The people fixing the cluster unit just rang to say that someone has put black grunge over 3 LEDs ABC TC and BATTERY LIGHT they will REMOVE the black grunge and replace the LEDs for me.

QUESTION any known common faults on the L322 that would trigger these bulbs to light ????

  • Not resetting the Steering Angle Sensor...
  • Yaw Sensor
  • ABS ECU
  • ABS Short Harness getting moisture in the Earth Cable corrding the ABS ECU Plug
  • EAS ECU issues
  • CANbus Error
Plus a probably many more...

  • The ABS system is used by the:
  • Dynamic Stability System (DSC) - To indicate braking and wheel speed for Traction Control purposes
  • EAS System - To indicate Wheel Speed to allow for speed related height changes and to open the crosslink valves after a braking moment
  • Cornering Brake Control system - To indicate Wheel Speed and Steering angle input (from the Steering Angle Sensor which is fed by the ABS ECU on the CANbus)
  • Emergency Brake Control System - To allow maximum braking force to be distributed to the relevant wheels even if the driver releases the brakes and reaaplies suddenly (read the handbook and RAVE)
  • Electronic Brake Biasing Control System - To indicate Wheel Speed and retardation values
  • Anti-Lock Braking System (obviously) - self explainitory
  • Hill Descent Control System - to manage vehicle speed and braking
  • The Transmission Control System - to give wheel speed information to compare to gearbox shaft speed(s) to ensure gear changes happen smoothly and for various other black mgic within the gearbox!
  • The Transfer Box Control System - to give wheel speed to allow the Transfer Box to change Ratio at the correct vehicle speeds
So the ABS system has its little fingers all sorts of pies,

My recurring ABS issues turned out to be internal failure of the ABS ECU - search my threads for it.....

Thanks saint those are the sort of answers I need. Not what I'd hoped for but def what I need. I plan to fix whatever occurs when I get the cluster back and fitted. Now u come to think about it there was a bit of brake squealing when braking the other day

Update ok got display cluster back fixed including removal of black gunge. Great service and price with 2 year guarantee. Cartronix cost my postage to get to them. Their service for pixels. Ribbons and bulb check was £99 plus £12.95 for return postage. 24 hr turnaround from when they received it. But on mine I had an extra £40 to pay for engineer to clean up the black gunge and check LEDs.

Anyway all pixels fine now
ABS Light DSC light on low coolant level and low screen wash and air suspension inactive

With doors open for a while whilst fixing glovebox cable and replacing dash battery gone flat. Now glove box open checked fuses I think it was fuse 51 and 55 fuses were around wrong way ABS and DSC Fuses ones 10 amp one 30. Amp swapped positions as per fuse guide with fresh fuses of the correct size.
Jump started car all LEDs gone out now.

Problems left abs judder when breaking

Coolant level low but its full

Screen wash low . Tried filling that and it all poured out all over the floor

Air suspension inactive. Which I already know is air strut that I need to do in a minute

Other problem seemed to be electrical fault in boot when shutting tailgate brake lights flash also everytime I open boot or doors satnav CD player fires up so does screen.

Apart from that I think it's a nice car lol

Any comments on any of these welcome gentlemen and ladies

Get a new battery, it will wreck havoc otherwise.

Check Disc runout on juddering brake, a plug in to diagnostics will see if there is still an underlying ABS issue causing the brake judder.

If the coolant mix is weak or wrong, the car will issue a coolant low warning despite being at the correct level. the Level uses a float with a magnet that passes a reed switch, if the float is bust, the stick will be low and the water level high also indicating a fault....and it may even be a faulty sensor in the expansion tank...the sensor screws in underneath the tank.

The screen wash filler tube could be blocked, try removing the little filter mesh and see if you refill, or poke a wire coat hanger done the neck and see if there is a blockage. or again could be a bust float switch and the tank is actualy full!

Not sure on the Brake light issue, so must be a loose wire....

The Screen and Nav Computer will activate when you open doors and tail - this is normal.

You're having fun with this one....stiff upper lip ol'bean!

Found out what the squealing noise was brake disc back plate broken away and rubbing on disc. Tied back with cable tie temp measure off to stealer Monday for new one they can't be much
