Hi Everyone. Read lots on here and been great. I'm now losing the will to live over..... yes, an ABS sensor. Cannot get it out. Lots of wd40. already destroyed the centre by drilling it but it will not come out. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Pleeeeaaaase :-(

Thread title says P38. Should just prise out together with the springy metal cylinder thing it sits in. Plusgas might help. Failing that heat but mind the brake lines and wires.

Think @tomcat59alan had one that was welded in once? He might have a solution? FFS don't damage the teeth underneath.

'should prise out' Hmmmmm I wish. I've had a spanner underneath the shoulder. Won't come out. I've had a spanner underneath the shoulder and tapped it with a hammer. Guess what? won't come out. I've drilled. hammered it, wd40'd it for 2 days and guess what? yay! you guessed it won't come out. Don't have access to heat atm

Can you score all round the top of the bush with a blade and then get an old chisel underneath to prise out? The only thing that should be holding it in is the spring and a bit of lithium grease.

Sorry I missed the P38 title as I am on my phone.....feel adequately silly now!

Heat is the way forwards, lots of WD40 and lots of patience prying and rocking.

A grove for the chisel sounds good too!!!

heat? Possibly but don't have any atm. Patience? all gone, Prying and rocking? Hang on , just going to check Hell.... Nope, no cats. :-( I can't emphasise enough how well in and tight this is. I've drilled out the centre and the 'stainless steel' outer will still not come out despite a screwdriver and hammer.

My next step is a hacksaw in the same way you remove a tight bush outer. Trust me, I've dealt with a few tight bushes ;-) lol

Careful. A mate lost his foreskin that way and it didn't look painless.

I had two that wouldn't come out! I had to destroy them when I did the wheel bearings. When I reassembled them I elongated the hole in the dust shield so they can stay in place if I ever have to strip the hubs again

Talk about a tease. How did you get the sods out?! Drill 'em?!

I have a spare front axle but so far I've destroyed one of those and one in the axle on my P38 sensors trying to get them out. I could end up destroying all three at this rate!!
At the moment, I'm still no closer to removing an ABS sensor without destroying it. It's a big world and there must be someone out there that's actually had the same problem as me. BooHoo!! :-(

wd40 is a water dispersant although I think it has some release properties, plus gas is better as a penetrating fluid/ release agent; there again it sounds that heat is what may be required here. Best of luck in your endeavours

Only way i could get mine out was to drill it out - used a drill slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the sensor & once the drill grabbed it, it spun it out. Just be careful not to go too far & damage your ring ;)
Personally i'd replace with a genuine wabco sensor as i had problems with aftermarket sensors.

Are you removing to replace with a new one? Daft question, sorry.. have you stripped off the brake caliper and dust shield, it'll give more access and you can destroy the lil barstool!!
Not teaching to suck eggs..;)
