Hi All, my turn again and a new one for me.

I have an 04, 4.4 L322 which I had MOT'd yesterday and all passed without any advisories but yesterday afternoon I got the bong of death and Air Suspension Inactive, HDC, DSC, ABS, the complete set but the car drove ok so I left it until I got home.

I pulled on the drive switched everything off, connected up the Fautlmate and got a 'Front Left Wheel Speed Sensor Plausibility' error which I cleared and I have also had the same fault but open circuit since.
i had an EBV fault on the instrument panel and various lighting errors including front side markers and brake lights although all is fine regarding the lights.

I reversed off my drive and as I started to move slowly forwards there was a kind of binding of brakes a small wheel lock up and I put my foot on the brake and got a lot of ABS activating and feeding back through the pedal followed by the suspension / HDC inactive etc. I moved slowly forward and it drove fine apart from the all the Instrument panel warnings.

I connected up my Allcomms and it gave me the front left speed sensor error which I can clear and if I drive backwards and forwards again it comes back almost instantly with the ABS activating as soon as I touch the brake, followed by the warnings.
The ABS sensor is quite new, I removed the front two and they are clean and the wiring looks good as it does to all the sensors as far as I can see.

The only thing I had done was the MOT where they had to put it on the ramps with the wheels hanging free but apart from that it has been fine for a while and was ok driving back from the MOT.
Does it sound like a simple wheel sensor gone bad or after having a google there could be a lot more going on with ABS modules, steering angle sensors etc.
Any counselling very much appreciated as always.
Thanks
Andy

All most guaranteed to be the ABS sensor or the wiring thereto....

Cheers Ant, it is a Britpart sensor, i wouldn't normally but i was part of my front suspension arm and cv joint kit so the bill was already over £300.
If i was thinking straight i would have swapped the two front ones over to see if the fault moved, the only other thing was there was quite a lot of water about but i checked all the ABS connections and they all seemed dry.
I tried it about 5 times and it repeated the fault and then I took it out just a minute ago and it was fine again, damn thing.
Could the connection to the transfer box be a possible cause as last time it was raining I had the false transmission overheat warnings?

Your diagnostics does seem to point almost exclusively to the ABS Sensors....if it was a general ABS Fault error or a CanBUS error or timeout, it maybe some other device on the CAN playing games.....but it was quite direct to the point of a sensor.....

Could just be a wet connection playing up....

As you say it was consistently pointing at the same sensor on both diagnostic tools and I could clear it and it would reappear straight away and as soon as I cleared the ABS sensor fault the other related faults cleared themselves.
I'll see how it goes, thanks mate
