hi
My disco has the intermittent 3 amigos lights. The garage I go too have tried the sensor kit which did not work. They tell me it's the modulator. This has to be removed and sent away to recon.
Unfortunately this means my vehicle is off the road whilst waiting.
Has anyone done this and is it always successful?
Many thanks

If you search "SVS Mod" either here or on google, you should find a load of information about the "fault" that can develop in the ABS modulator and what you can do to correct that particular problem.
There are a number of causes of the 3 Amigos, usually a faulty wheel hub or the shuttle valve switches and only reading the fault codes with a compatible diagnostic device will definitively show which fault is causing it.
I do advise users who don't have access to diagnostics to read up on and install the modification to the SVSwitch plate first. It will usually only cost some wire and some time. Done correctly it will have no adverse effect on the vehicle and if the fault wasn't in the SVS plate then you will have eliminated one fault source.
It's highly unusual for the ABS to be removed from the vehicle at all let alone send it away for reconditioning. I don't think I've ever heard of one having been done that way, but there's always a first time.

I'd not worry about the modification unless you really need it.

The Shuttle Valve Switches are about £40 plus VAT and can be fitted in situ without undoing any pipes.

The PCB pin modification is not always needed, I resoldered the pins on mine and it has been fine. The pins do tarnish on tome, a bit of Vaseline on them after cleaning them with something like Scotchbrite should do the job.

The plate that holds the connector can be removed in situ, there is a figure for the retaining screw torque which I have somewhere.

Hi
Shuttle valves have been fitted. Lights still come on. The garage are still saying abs modulator needs reconditioning.?
