Hi can anyone tell me the correct light sequence for my 300 tdi, the light comes on with the ignition & stays on until you rive off & then the light goes out. There seems to be different ideas as what the light should do. Any advice welcome.:D

abs light should stay on until you drive away, it takes a few rotations of the wheel for the sensor to do its checks :)

Its doing what it should.Dont worry, its fine.Thats not an opinion, its in the workshop manual !

Thanks for your replies Bobbler & Shocker one more thing to cross off the mot prep list, alas still lots to do:D

Not strictly correct.
When you turn on the ignition the abs lights but then after about a second goes out. After another second it comes on again and this time stays on until the car is driven forward at 6mph.
The first on/off blink is the self diagnostic check working.

now i,m getting a tad worried, at first i had no abs light coming on with the ignition, this was due to the dickhead who owned the before me removing the bulb due to the ns cv joint knocking. After replacing the cv joint i reset the sensor & the light comes on stays on until you get over 7 mph. Has anyone any ideas why it is not carrying out it,s self check, all the sensors/wheel bearing are in adjustment

Niceday,-with the greatest personal respect.....bugger strictly speaking! Dont give the bloke nightmares he doesnt need!

If the light comes on,goes off very soon after pulling away and the brakes work safely, thats good enough for the MOT.As long as its safe....and the tester will tell him if its not,....then he can worry about the niceties when he's through the test.

Snoops, can you feel the ABS when you break HARD?If so,then really, dont worry.

Sorry niceday,nothing personal mate

The reason it does not flash is that it has a stored fault code . The fact that it goes off after you drive above 6 mph means that there are no current faults active . Stored fault is probably the CV/Sensor problem you have fixed . You just need to delete the stored code . Search for ABS diagnostics using a paper clip ( or something similar) using the net or this forum and you will find out how to do it . Nothing to worry about it will pass MOT as it is now . Regards Jonathan

Thanks for the reply Johnathan, it has put my mind at rest. I have found a thread regarding the resetting of the ecu, i cannot find the relay for the abs light which is situated under the passenger footwell. Can anyone give me an exact location for the little bugger, by the way i have a 300 tdi on a m plate.
Thanks Snoops:)
