Help.....On the way to work the ABS, brake and TC lights all came on and a warning "ABS Fault" appeared on the dash board. I still have brakes (Just) but the pedal is very hard. I can hear the pump working every couple of pedal presses so that seems OK.

I put on my faultmate and it stated, 'Pump Pressure switch faulty', as I am at work with no access to my RAVE CD can any one point me in the right direction to check for duff relays loose connections etc etc....also where is the pump pressure switch situated? never had to look before now..

Thanks in advance...

Chris

ps its a 2001 4.6 petr:confused:l....

If the pump is switching on and off, but on every couple of applications maybe replacing the accumulator might be a good idea. The switch fault may or may not then go away. Pump pressure switch is on front of pump towards front of car. Not a servicable item you will need a S/H unit new ones are a bloody fortune.

Just had a look on Rave the pump pressure switch is located on side of abs pump and rave states the switch is not serviceable, hope that helps

Ok thanks both, just looked on flea bay and there are a couple for sale that state accumulator/ABS booster pump, is the switch part of this assembly or is it a separate item?

It should be on the assembly but is available as a separate item. But bloody expensive. Have you not tried Emmotts our sponsor? You may be able to get just the switch from him.

Thanks Wammers, have not contacted anyone yet just trying to find out the best course of action, Idid not want to start messing around with the brakes/pumps etc, just to find out it was a fuse or something....

Regards

Chris

If the pump is switching on and off it doesn't sound like it's the pressure switch to me. If the pump cycles on every press of the pedal, I would change the accumulator first.

Yep exzakerly. The switch has a few stages 110 bar lamp out 170-180 bar off 140 bar on Etc. :):)

The same switch was fitted to 1990s Saabs - it might be cheaper to get a new one from a Saab parts place.

Saab part number 8994071
