I don't wish to be presuptuous or nosy but are you certain it's the ECU ? I've just gone through months of pain with the ABS and am familiar with most of the problems. ECU tends to be near the end of the line.
I'm just about to post a pic of the interior of the ABS pressure switch which was my particular problem.

its been with auto electricians for a day, i have already changed full abs pump, switch and accumulator unit, as the pump switch was knackered. they have been right through system as it is giving fault at rear left wheel abs sensor. they have crossed them over, swapped them over still the same, meter readings taken at ecu shows rear left ohm reading is well different to other 3 that are all equal. so they have tested system and traced it all the way to the ecu.

Make sure you get your old pump uniy back as well as your old ECU and anything else they have swapped.
Put your old pump on the battery terminals and see if it runs.

I take it they were RR specialists ?

no they aren't RR specialist but a very established auto electricians with all the faultmate equipment etc, they have given me the fault code printouts etc.
i only changed whole unit as it seemed my accumulator was on it way out too so might as well do whole unit, pump was working fine- but for how long?? got the old unit back from them so got spares now.
