Morning gents, the time has come for me to get a Vogue, im leaning towards the TD6 rather than the V8, I've got 9 grand to buy one with so looking around the usual buying sites a 2004/2005 is in budget, what's your opinion on the TD6 engine?
Petrol is fine if you can afford 15mpg, you cannot LPG the jag engine. Plenty of go in the TD6 and 30mpg on a run.How many miles do you do a year? The petrol v8 is much smoother, with more power and a slightly stronger gearbox. I'm looking around for one at the moment and hated the td6 when I test drove it. Some love it but I thought it was very noisey and very underpowered to pull such a heavy car along which the v8 does nicely. The only one I haven't test driven yet is the tdv8 but as I only do around 8k a year I'm leaning towards the petrol v8

Not according to my figuresThe bmw v8 seems to take to lpg well, if you can find one with a good muiltipoint system fitted already will give you similar mpg to the td6 due to the cost of lpg

TD6 is a great engine ! lots of power
easily tows two large horses in the back of our 1 tonne trailer.
when chipped they move rather quickly, some will say the gearbox will die but im just servicing the gearbox every year. so far after 3 years and 30K all is fine. shes now on 170K miles
What chip are you using on yours hippo?
I decided to take a risk on a cheapo £80 unit off eBay.....
All is well, great improvement on power, smoother gear changes and better MPG if driven nicely.
The power is also adjustable via switches on the unit
How long have you been running it? Have you ever had to replace the turbo at that milliage?
