Plenty of parcels and bits and pieces arriving this week, clutch, release bearing, slave cylinder, gearbox adapter and quadrant, complete exhaust system, roll of pipe for the axle/gearbox breathers, set of proper defender PAS pipes and god knows what else.
Working every day this week, but then got a week or so off over Christmas and hoping to get the engine in and some other bits finished off.
Only thing I am kicking myself about is that I haven't sorted the stuff out for galv yet, all still just sat their in the garage waiting to go
Would have been nice to have the rad frame done so I could plumb most of the engine pipework up.

Merry Christmas chaps, hope you have all had a good day. Me.. I have been tinkering as usual and not had a bad couple of days.
First job was to get the gearbox crossmember in.

And then get it from it's current resting place behind the garage, to the front so I can put the engine in.
Easier said than done pushing it, and having to turn it around.

And then got the engine and gearbox in.

Few other jobs done, complete exhaust, clutch and slave, handbrake cleaned/painted and fitted, fitted props, (used the disco front one, but had to buy a rear one, had plenty of 200tdi ones in the shed, but no 300tdi type)(longer) changed fuel tank sender/pickup/return gaskets.
Bought some proper defender pas pipes, albeit I could have probably made the old ones fit, I am trying to make as close to factory fit as I can and look right.
Found some brackets I had left over from last time so I could mount the brake bias valve and make front to rear brake pipe.
Also got the rear tub out and scraped all the old oily, muddy shit'e off the underneath, primed and painted, just need to order some of the tub strengtheners from YRM as the old ones are knackered.

Next couple of jobs are to fill all the oils, find the defender gearbox selector top (got one somewhere in the shed ) and fit the chassis wiring loom, old one was a mess, but again, I'm sure I've got one in the shed somewhere, if not I'll order another as they aren't massively expensive.
Will probably also plonk the tub on temporary, then it will be left their for a while and will get the disco stripped of anything I want and the rest taken for scrap.

Hi Aaron Merry Christmas!
On the subject of galvanising things. What did you do about the bush holes in the radius arms? Did you clean them out afterwards to get back to the correct size or leave the outer bush casings in place when you got them galvanised so that you could take them out afterwards and get back to the correct size hole?
Thanks again

How on earth do you do it...? All I have mustered today is to eat drink and sleep!

Haha, I don't really know mate, I have nothing else to do so just get on with it, with moving house I am nowhere near where I want to be, but hey-ho.

Good job ! Hope it stays mild weather for you.

Cheers, as long as it doesn't rain/snow I am happy :)

Thanks chap, radius arms I send without bushes in, and then when they come back use a sanding drum type thing in the drill to clean the holes out, mainly to just get the big burs off, new bushes will then push straight in.
You will also need an M20 die for the threaded end.
Did a set for someone yesterday actually as trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible.

hi arron merry xmas you putting us all too shame again lol on a different note just fitted some hockey sticks and trailing arms on a build and used acid to remove galve just off the threads stood it in a coffee jar of acid a few fisses later threads clear

Thanks Gatso, see, not putting everyone else to shame, you've been busy with other builds aswell as your own ;) I don't get that luxury, I have to be a bloody labourer during the week.
And Mr @XRIZLAX on here works in a galv plant and he told me to do the same thing :) I'm just a funny twat and like to tap new o_O

Anyway, very very little done the last few days. Monday I filled all the oils, and prepped a pair of radius arms for someone to have as above.
Tuesday I turned the shed upside down and found the spare chassis wiring loom I had. Pulled all the old tape off and checked the condition throughout and re-did it with self-amalging tape and clipped to the top of the chassis. Also pulled the axles off the disco.
Today I pulled the interior out of said disco, stripped the axles a little of radius arms etc to make them a little more manageable and sold a towbar I had galvanised so had to clean that up, 2 bloody hours  That's a time when I do wish I had some acid.

And on the galv front, I thought I might be able to take the lot for this build while I had a week off work, turns out they seem to have the week off too, as rang Joseph ash and Worksop galv, neither of whom are answering the phone, bugger :(
The last thing I want to do is move house with it all in shot blasted state because it will then get buried in shite and left for months to go rusty, will have to try and get half a day off at some point after new year to take it.

AY UP cocker, hows things, yes we deserve a bloody week off :D:p:):):):):):).
lol still got that there bulkhead here when youve got 10 mins spare .

Hello mate, I am not too bad thanks, I hope you are well too bud, and yes, definitely deserve a week off, don't we all and it is good to make the most of it over Christmas. I just thought being a big company they might make you work.
I forgot about that bulkhead, again  meant to be moving house at some point early next year, so if I can make room in the shed their to do it for you I will once I get settled in.
Bought a tdci bulkhead myself the other week actually o_O But then ended up repairing the old one, so thats something for a future project, just wants blasting and sending for galv, but we'll see, probably one of those things I never get around to doing..

NO worries mate, there are some guys working at our plant, mainly maintainance. if there was something you needed doing in a hurry, i could probably sort something.

Thanks for the offer of help mate, I will send you a pm, would be very helpful and much appreciated.

Happy new year chaps and chapesses, I hope you all have a good one and all the best for 2017.
2016 hasn't been a bad year, albeit not without it's ups and downs, but on the whole a decent one, maybe things are on the up, because for me having thoughts like that something must be up, I am usually Mr negativity.
Still no real progress, infact naff all, just been taking bits and bobs off the donor disco that might be useful for people, and then today I had someone take it away.
Thought just get rid of it, sick of people messing about, yeah I'll have this, I'll have that, and never turn up, bloody infuriates me, me just having the engine and gearbox out of it it has paid for it's self anyway, so off it went, and not something I want to do again anytime soon, or at least not in a rush.
