OK. Either I didn't think that option through, or what I meant was that the reprobate knows full well about Landys and that if he were so stupid as to steal one that it would have fallen apart by the time he got it to his secret hideout. No, what he needs is some security devices to double the value of his Saxo, and the Landy owner is going to provide them.

This is giving me some worryingly immoral ideas.

This has possibilities, could do wiv a 2nd hand disclok meself :p

Sending them to the thatcham site which will advise all manner of aftermarket trackers and alarms as well as additional physical security
Yerbut the memo is encouraging us to go back to basics, mechanical devices. Not saying, but steering the reader away from the electronics side. Or is it just me being paranoid?

I still don't get why?

If a scrote has the address of a Fender owner why encourage them to get ANY extra security? Why not just Nick it?

There appears to be a genuine police campaign in north yorks and the police are advising owners to get aftermarket immobilisers. The scammers have picked up on this and are suggesting in their bogus police memo that owners make their upgrades mechanical. Because they can defeat the mechanicals, electronic upgrades might stop their thieving.

Think It's about time the Police got some Bait motors (like they have over merica) 10 min after it's bin nicked it stops & locks down:eek: Then the SCUM BAGS are taken to a place were only WE know so that WE can serve justice:mad::mad::mad:

The website link could be fake, it may give the sender access to your computer which will allow them (amongst other things) to get your address.
And they know you own a Defender....

Bait car! Yes, used to watch that:)
Best bit was the perps excuses as to why they were driving it before the cops revealed all the internal/external CCTV catching the real reasons.
Shocking how many females were robbing the cars though:eek:

And don't ignore my warning about clicking the link on that "Yorkshire Constabulary" email/message at the beginning of this thread.

There is no link at the beginning of this post, you would have to copy and enter it , not click on it.

Cheers

The link is nothing more than a load balanced webpage lol! WW2 is a load balancer, there is nothing malicious in the webpage source code, both domains are hosted on the same server IP, both webpages have the same analytic code. Its all explained and proven in my link in the post above... (hope it helps)

We hired a car from Heathrow to get to Brighton, when we returned it to the Avis under cover car park we were met by a uniformed Avis guy with a hand held scanner who inspected the car and scanned our credit card to return our collision damage deposit.
Scam....he was nothing to do with Avis and took £1500.
The bank refunded the money but that wasn't the point.

Well had a reply from Yorkshire police today, the letter I had was part of a genuine campaign to raise awareness on Defender theft. They said they were sorry for the hand written envelope and the poor quality printing.
