I'm back. The run wasn't in miles, but Kilometers instead. Approx 650 each way. The engine ran perfectly, smoothly and without hesitation or anything else. WOW, for all that I've done to my FL1, this has to be the final icing on the proverbial.
My wife recorded the fuel/distance information, with the return journey yet to be calculated because I've yet to refuel, having only just returned two hours ago. I've already had two beers and a very large G&T... to celebrate - of course, so refueling has to wait.
I will announce the findings asap, depending on when we next go out. There's a local filling-station that gives us a FREE levage (car-wash) if we spend more than 30 Euros on fuel. Easily done.
None-the-less..., the engine ran perfectly, smoothly and goes like a Saturn 5 rocket. Please forgive me, but even though my boy-racing days are long since over - sadly, I took great delight in putting my foot-down on incerdibly steep hills to overtake newer vehicles easily and without hesitation, watching them suffer steep slopes while we sailed onwards & upwards without needing to change down. I was so proud. Smirk! I knew they were suffering as their gear-changes could be seen by the extra puffs of smoke from their exhausts as I closed in on them. I saw their eyes in their rear-view mirrors, trying their best to pull-away. It's not vanity... it's simply pride in my ability to make a vehicle better. Vanity is the fact I'm in my early 60's and still have no grey hair, naturaly. I love to show that off too. I did work with lots of radioactive (plutonium/uranium) material in my past days, perhaps that's why? Who knows??
