Finally time fer an update!

Took it for an MOT last Wednesday and she failed on a couple of lights (dodgy earth), one patch of welding on an outrigger and borderline brakes.

The last 10 days have been every spare moment trying every trick in the book to get a decent peddle.

Changed master cylinder which was the original issue and snapped a bleed nipple which led to snapped brake lines removing the wheel cylinder so after sourcing some more, making up new lines and bleeding through the peddle was still rubbish.

Twin leading on the fronts resisted everything until I got my hands on an Eezi bleed kit. An hour later I'm the proud owner of a new 12 month ticket with about an hour and a half of the 10 day retest period to spare.

She's back

What you have a break down

Nope, more a 'rest' stop :p

I might admit to a minor case of unscheduled maintenance when she started running rough and stalling on the way back from the mot earlier but a quick strip and clean of the carb had her purring again :)

Added an inline fuel filter while I was at it that's been sat in a box since the beginning of this thread

Went on a minor excursion on Saturday seeking high ground and dark skies, not exactly a stunning display but pleasant and a glorious day Sunday drinking coffee and munching bacon sarnies.

Still been suffering odd moments of fuel starvation so chucked a new lift pump on (hopefully without its attendant oil leak) re stripped the carb, blew everything out and spent a while making a new gasket.

She's done about 50 miles since without a hiccup so fingers crossed approaching reliability :)

Having seen the weather forecast for the imminent Lake District trip this weekend I'm having a little ponder at the workshop

That looks great, I do similar with the 90 - either off the back or off the side :)

Off the back makes more sense but there's going to be 11 of us camping together this weekend so need to maximize cover in a hurry.

O

AHAHA........Just fitted concealed led lights in the back, multi colour, dimmable and with music settings.

I'm now having a full on rave sat in a car park :D

Jess has just called me a massive tart :p

I hope to have that spare lump in a couple of weeks so you can try a different carb shortly after :D

Missed it I'm afraid but @Dippypud (thank you) sent me a nice new shiny gasket and seal set so one more strop down and clean up should do it with luck :)

Can't quite make out the problem tbh. She's done over 700 miles over the last 2 weekends  and in the time the idle jet has blocked twice and main jet once.

Had a new inline filter and been stripped and blown out with an airline since foolishly running out of fuel and sucking up gunk. I can only think a few bits have been lurking somewhere in the deep, dark recesses of the carb and pop out to cause mischief.

We had that on a Sherpa carb, looked like twig bits, really weird how it got past the filters ... similar in appearance to cloves ... with a petrol smell ...:oops:

Not done much recently apart from use her and general maintenance stuff.

A small rocker box leak turned into a flood and the reason became apparent

Nice easy fix and she marks her territory less than any Series I've had now.

With winter coming on and developing a nasty tendancy to complain about draughts I've been sprucing up the cab a bit.

Rubber backed door mat offcut from a job in the footwells

Cut so it fits nicely up the bulkhead looks tidy and will deaden sound a bit.

Rooted out some 5mm board and cut out a door card

Fitted in some closed cell insulation

And pinned the card on with some self tappers. Should look ok with a few more coats of paint and keep a bit of heat in.

Door seals are reasonable and next after the passenger door is vent seals and a blower upgrade when the pennies have added up.
