hi
1998 4.6 p38

all doors lock and unlock with remote fob except the passenger front which has to be manually locked with the key

any ideas -

thanx guys...

yep, take out the mechanism, its a bit fiddly, now take out the small screws and inside you will see a motor, this sticks for some reason, spin it by had a few times, reconnect the power and try it to see if it works, dont be put off as it can take a few goes to get it to work.

before this tho try to lock all doors with the passenger internal lock on the door sill, if this doesnt work clean the connections to the door mech. try again. if not working try above. if on the first attempt it did lock the other doors, take off the door card and retry, it could be stiff on the door card and stop it opening on the fob button!!

hope this helps

Do you have a key hole on the passenger door ? Most certainly the actuator playing is up, you can strip them down and repair - but you will end up doing it again in the future.

thats a thing, i thought they only had a key hole in the drivers door, unless its had work before and a lhd drivers door lock was used

I have a Disco 01 and the doors open and shut okay except sometimes the rear door will not open with the fob or the button in the dash and other times it works fine. I cannot even open it with the catch in the rear tailgate when it stops working although i can hear the sound of the actuator and the pin button goes up and down - Any thoughts ???

sounds like something is loose or sticking, best thing to do is dismantle it and clean elec connections and slap a bit of grease on it, on the p38 there is a micro switch that senses the movement of the catch the single wire connection on one of mine had worked loose and solved one of the problems.

worst case scenario it still doesn't work still!!!
