So I have a 1985 110. I belive its ex RAF police but I'm yet to contact the MOD to see if they still hold any information on it.

Any ways ever since having it I've wondered what this is for? Goes straight through to the inside where you can obv connect some other type of hose? It rotates up and down and looks to be as wide as a wind screen hose? Its only on the passengers side of a rhd motor. I originally thought it was a toggle for attaching rope and that all the other hooks was missing it. But I've been recently been insulating the inside and making the truck a little more homely when I discovered the other side of the t pipe connector.

These are for tying down a soft top so presumably the Landy has been converted from soft top to hard top at some point in its life unless fitted as standard on ex MoD landies.

Nope I'm talking about the t hose connector under the hook. I also belive they are on most military land rovers as are used to tie camo and stuff like that down

Possible but would be unusual to drill the rivets out to then put it back after putting it through to the cab? Wondered if there was any lads in the forces who may know or obviously this well informed chaps
 
It obviousley wasnt used for water, could be to stop the cleat thing from being knocked inwards if bumped.

Why is it obvious not for water? If it was there to stop the hangers getting bent in wouldn't it be on all of them? Why one on passengers side?

That might be the pnly one they used? I dunno, if it was used for water they wouldnt have paint on them, that is assuming a hose was fitted. What does it look like on the inside? It could have been for a breather maybe? Battery compartment breather?

So yeah maybe a breather if there's a reason the battery box would have one. It's nearly 40 years old and has been painted crudely several times before I owned it. Doubt it was painted from the beginning. Any of you guys know any army boffs that might know?

All the FFR (fitted for radio) spec ones had a few batteries in the rear compartment. This was the breather for these batteries.
 
A pipe would have connected to both batteries then gone behind the side panel to the back of this. They are a real bugger to remove and plug the old hole.

I see, well thanks for clearing that one up muc appreciated! Is there a benefit of removing them and plugging the hole? Do they let water in?
 
Probably no real negative to leaving it. Just it looks a bit weird to some.
If you can get to the inside tube, then you could plug it then it will keep any water or cold air out for sure.

I mean I do agree I do think it looks daft lol. But then just part of her history! Thanks again though for clearing it up
