Hi,

So, I'm back on the hunt for a Disco :)dance:). I'm looking at a 1993 Disco but the thing that puzzles me is that it's got a post-1994 face. You know - with the bigger headlamps and stuff.

The mirrors and the interior are old-school. Would that tell you that the car has been in an accident?

Also, generally speaking: if you had a choice between a low-mileage 200Tdi and a high-mileage 300Tdi, which one would you choose?

However, my main worry with the pre-facelift Discos is the gearbox. I have no experience in servicing the older-style manual gearboxes. I've always had the R380 type. Can anyone confirm or dispel my reservations?

Thanks!

changing lightz iz very common. i'd be more worried about how rotten it is.

i would be more concerned how its been looked after and the same old story ............. rust

Both boxes are the same in their servicing requirements, just change the oil.
Or did you mean a stripping down repair and replacing parts?

Gearbox is a gearbox. Have a drain. And a fill plug. Not much different accept If your into stripping em down, if you are. It dowsent matter if you can do it you can do it.
