Hello, my first post... I've been a Land Rover fan since I was a kid, had a few over the years V8 Lightweight, Range Rover V8 3 door from 1973 (scraped it AAAHHHHHHH!) freelander 1 (never again) and a rolling restoration of a a 1966 series 2a. I have also just acquired a Discovery 2 TD5 metropolis which I'm sure will keep me busy! Hope to be of some help to people on here and I'm sure I will have many questions.

Anyway, found this thing tucked behind the lower grill on my Discovery TD5, its got a fairly thick 12v supply to it and has 2X 10mm plastic pipes coming out of it heading towards the washer bottle (they have been cut about 10cm from the thing. My guess is maybe its a heater of some sort but what would it be heating?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

but I don’t agree with the idiot bit:)

Get rid of it.
From your description it isn’t right.
As a supplement to a petrol engine it’s supposed to be good (if done right so they say)

I believe:)

But it’s got a long way to go yet.

Welcome:)

Sorry @marjon I meant it in terms of, it's a bit snake-oil and "desperation" . These devices purport to give silly boosts to MPG like "40%" and rarely do they live up to the promises, if doing anything at all.

I agreed get rid. It’s a ****e install. And plumbed up wrong (from OP description) and besides there’s not enough plates in that thing to do any good.

Is it “snake oil”;)

I don't believe it is, just got a long way to go yet:)

Thanks people, I will be ditching it, if only it was a flux capacitor I could go back in time and not scrap my classic range rover!

Definitely a hydrogen reactor. Not great for MPG improvement but fantastic for an excellent clean burn and reduced emissions.
Copy it for the series it could be almost smoke free :D
