When you are changing bushes and don't have access to a heavy press, and have to drill the old bushes out, use a masonry drill bit rather than a metal/wood bit as it is far more effective.

just drive a screwdriver or thin drift between the outer metal ring and the radius arm & they fall out.

I burnt all mine out, lit the chimnea, chuck in lump of metal with bush, sit down and drink tea:tea:. Then just use a punch/saw to remove the outer bush;)

thats the way to do it....
back in the day I used a cortina mk4 then mk5 for mini-cabbing,
always shagging out the void bushes - so it was either slit the steel location "ring" or like you bash anything that came to hand in to relieve the tension and it almost fell out - had to do the void bushed in the axle in the car !!!
still got my void bush insertion tool in me shed..

We used mine to do the spring bushes on Beasties 109.. & very good job it did anorl.. :D

Ok, where am I going wrong? Done that 4 times on one radius arm bush. 1/4" driver all the way through. I see on your picture one of them you've done twice. Mine has been done in each quarter and still won't come out, braying like a mad man with the hammer
Drilled a hole through and put jig saw around it, but judging by the smoke coming off it, it was just fusing together again as the blade moved on :)

Could be getting the brazing torch out :D

My new bushes took 15 ton on a press to get in so they might not always come out easily. Thankfully the ones I removed were polys and were a doddle to get out

your very lucky if you find them as easy as pikeys most need cutting before they will peel out

Grimmer,
Scrolling down those pictures gave me a proper lol moment, from the two very neat sawing pictures to the chiminea! Tremendous. Great finish on the radius arms - did you shot blast them?
Using one of the above techniques, they will be out this weekend, one way or the other :D
