Hi everyone. Just agreed a sale on a little 1985 90. 2.5 diesel, n/a. Very first landy after always wanting one. Hoping to have a lot of fun in it and learn as much as possible how to keep it running for many more years to come. Looking forward to being part of the forum. I think I'm going to need you!! :)

All the best

Matt

Welcome! My first landy (that I own myself) is a 2.5na, contrary to what people say its not a bad motor!

Get some pics up then!

Cheers! Will get some pics on pronto. :)

I went for the na as (hopefully) it keeps things simpler on the maintenance front and I'm not worried about going fast, luckily, so seemed the best option as my first venture. :5bcoolgleamA:

Thats exactly why I got the 2.5na, it's super simple. Few good threads in the 2.5na section on running it and setting it up properly

Cheers! - here are a couple of pics. Some might say the paint job is poor but i love the character, if i wanted something shiny, i'd have bought some bacofoil.

Heading over to the 2.5na section right now, thanks for the steer!

:)

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping to do (going to get the bulkhead sorted first).

Only thing though, does anyone know where i can buy the right paint from? I've been told Tekaloid is what i need but that seems to be rare and I don't mind going with a synthetic paint but would prefer to roller rather than spray.

I've read the paint colours thread on the Defender section and i know the colour is 440 - Venetian Red. Just can't seem to find anywhere that sells it. I don't mind going with a different red but any guidance on suppliers of suitable paints would be very much appreciated.

:)

Find out the bs paint code and go to any paint shop (automotive) and get them to mix it for you in a rollerable synthetic form. I just rollered mine with oil based polyurethane NATO green. Not the best finish but went on ok. You don't have to stick to the same colour, it's an easy change on the v5.
