To all, my very first question, I want a second key for my 2003 L322 but do not want to pay silly money at a main dealers,
I have seen blank key fobs complete with printed circuit board & chip for about £40 new on E-Bay my problem is how can I tell if I need RF transmitter of 315 MHz or 433 MHz or if it's Infrared transmitter the pdf workshop manual just says it could be either of these but it does state that RF transmitter works remotely from about a 10 MTR distance from the car & the infrared from about 5 MTR's that's the only clue I have that my one key could be infrared. Can any one shed any light on this please.

Yours if you are UK is almost certainly without doubt 433MHz.

Infrared I think was for the Fuel Burning Heater.

You will need the key to be programmed to your car....in some cases thus means removing the EWS unit from the vehicle and plugging this into a decoder.....this reads the security code then prgrams the key accordingly.

Whilst main dealer is silly money, it is pretty much guaranteed to work!

Main dealer quoted me around £250 but it doesn't need to be programmed it should work out of the box so to speak

As I said above, the Main Dealer is expensive but is pretty much guaranteed to work

Don't think any of the keys on the L322 can be re-programmed, so I would be very careful with e-bay keys. There are a couple of people who can program new keys to your EWS unit cheaper than a dealer supplied key. Dealer supplied keys are preprogramed before they are sent to the dealer based on the VIN. Just nee the remote synced to your RR
