When I get round to it I'm gonna stick a 200TDI in my petrol series 3 88". Couple of questions:
For the ignition, would I be better off just using the disco or a series 3 diesel ignition barrel?
Also, which clutch would be the best bet?
Last one, does a 200tdi disco have a rev counter, if so, how does it work and would it be transferable to a series 3 or not?

Cheers guys.

A disco's ignition won't fit in a series
Ask Yella what clutch he used
yes a disco has a rev counter, it's powered by the alternator

im running a disco 200tdi in my series 3 with standard gearbox heavy duty series 3 clutch and 200tdi pressure plate

you need to get an ignition switch for a s3 diesel

use the clutch off your series with a h/d plate, and dont get a ****ing britpart one

dont bother ****ing around with a rev counter, theyre pointless

Not to be rude to Yella, but the series diesel ignition switch will not give power to the run circuit (for the injection pump) when in the start position. It is better to use the petrol switch and use the wire that would go to the ignition coil on the petrol engine, to feed power to the injection pump. I learned this the hard way doing mine...

No, but I think with a 2.5 diesel engine side bell housing sticking on the 200tdi will make it fit.

The 200TDI will fit a series gearbox, but you must remove one stud on the engine, and either drill a couple of holes in the lower ring of the gearbox, or use hex head screws to attach the stiffening ladder to the back of the flywheel housing... here are a couple of links with good info...
