Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum & would like to introduce myself.

I don't own a Land Rover yet but would like buy a Discovery TD5. I have a budget that means that I'm probably looking for something around '02 to '04 & would politely like to ask what I should be looking out for when viewing. Such as, problems I should look out for, how reliable are they, how expensive are parts etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Introduce yourself then.....

Whats your star sign, favorite colour, do you enjoy long walks or cosy nights in, do you go to the gym and work out.

We need a feel for you before you get any help

Ok Vinnie, I'll try again.

I'm Tony & I'm getting frighteningly near to the big 50, I don't believe in all that star sign rubbish, my favourite colours are blue & amber - the colours of Shrewsbury Town FC, I enjoy both long walks & cosy nights in; as long as they are accompanied by a couple of real ales & I've never been to a gym.

I live with my partner Rachel, just outside Shrewsbury in the beautiful county of Shropshire. We have a 4 year old son who keeps me young in mind & very very tired in body. As a family we enjoy getting out in the fresh air, whether that's walking, camping or just having fun. I do enjoy a bit of fishing, growing my own veg' & accompanying my Dad when goes shooting.

I work freelance as a cameraman be that TV, corporate or whatever, I'm not a proud man & will work for whoever wants to pay me for the day. However, I'm working a lot more locally & need a vehicle that can get me just about anywhere.

As I've previously said, I'm on the lookout for a Discovery, have never owned a 4WD but have driven a few Land Rovers of various ages over the years. Having had a look around, my budget would mean something likely to be '52 to '54 plate. I am hoping someone could advise me on what to look out for, problems that could occur, whether milage makes a difference etc & most importantly, what is reliability like.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
