Hi, I'm Pete from Australia, I am not a mechanic, just a low wage earner, so trying to fix my disco myself, youtube has been very good so far. ok what is happening is first start up in the mornings I can put it in to R or D and press the excelerator all the way to the floor, nothing happens, motor just idles, drop into N or P and rev a bit and drop into gear and off I go. when I get up to around 2500 revs it starts coughing, or bunny jumping, missing, or something, now what I have tried so far...
I have replaced the Fuel Filter.
I have replaced the Fuel pump, due to running out of diesal at 1/4 tank, plus pump was noisy.
I have checked and freed up a sticky waste gate.
there is no fuel leaking from the Fuel regulator.
I have checked for oil in the harness, clean as a wistle.

I hope someone can point out a few more things for me to look at, thanks in advance..

The way I read that, it sounds like you have a gearbox issue, rather than an engine issue ?

in any event, have you checked your gearbox oil level ? it sounds like it might be rather low - engine note should change pretty instantly from N to D at tickover ( it should sound slightly laboured )

I know F all about auto boxes mate, but I would ask in the Discovery section as you might get a better response. @jamesmartin has great Landy knowledge and might be able to help. Good luck with solving your problem.

Don't make the mistake of checking the gearbox oil level with the oilways empty.....start the engine, cycle the gear selector from P to R through 1 and 2 a couple of times. Then stop the engine and pull the dipstick. Cycling the gear selector moves oil around inside the gearbox and give the correct level reading.

I have heard that the Disco 2 auto g/box can be a bit iffy about the quality as well as the quantity of the oil in it too. If it were mine I'd be minded to do an oil change in the gearbox before anything else.
