Hi all...I have done a search and found some really useful threads on getting the rear subs to work with an aftermarket head unit so wicked...

however i have a sub/amp unit to fit in my 200tdi.....I have found the plug connector for it in the tailgate, the issue is the plug that was in the sub has 6 wires in but the one in my tailgate only has 5 wires in ?? will it work or do I need to run another wire...if so what will the wire be for ???

last question....I have the bolts for fitting the sub to the tailgate but I just have holes in my tailgate....has anyone got a pic or link to the fittings I need for the tailgate

many thanks all

I don't have a clue so tell us what wires you have, and we can tell you what's missing.

I think mine only had 5 wires in the stock wiring. 12V+, 12V- ,Remote (power signal), and the posi and negative signal lines for the speakers.

Hi...right the wiring plug I have

the wires:

I had some pretty big headaches getting the rear sub working in my 300tdi after I upgraded the old Clarion unit to the Phillips CD changer model.

The original wiring in my 300 had a dedicated ISO plug for the sub with no other wires. It only had red and black. From your pictures you seem to have a red and black on its own row on your plug so I would hazard a guess that these are for the sub.

Assuming LR didn't change how it worked between the 200 and 300 those two wires run off to an amp elsewhere in the car and just require (an unamped) audio source. Just solder these onto a phono plug (assuming your aftermarket headunit has a phono out) and you should be in business.
