Hey all

Its a 2.5TD 110 SW so I assume its a turbo diesel.

Its a one owner from new G plate with full service history - it was a government vehicle so feeling good about it. It has done 92k and is up for sale at £1495.

It will come with a full MOT and taxed until next March - only MOT fail was the chassis which requires a weld.

Thoughts?

Teehee, you dunt know the difference between TD & n/a. 1500 nicker is fairly cheap, spesh if it's a trade sale. It's had welding done to sell it? Are you sure the veekel spec/model is what you want?

Give us a hand here. What do you want it for & a few more details about it (link to the ad' or whatever) would help.

Get it right & you'll enjoy yer first Landy. Get it wrong & you'll be on here every 5 minutes asking how to put the next breakage right & the only geezer who'll simperfize'll be Daft!

I don't have a link but I have one canoe, one wife, two bikes and two labradors. Always wanted a Defender and just want something thats practical. Its a SW model. I work in the motor trade, so I know people who can do the technical stuff for me for the cost of parts and beer tokens.

It all depends on how much welding is needed. If it's just a small patch, then it sounds like a good deal.
Get one of yer mechanic mates to look at it before parting with your hard-earned.

Early turbo's (pre TDi) ain't great. If you can extend yer budget to a 200TDi 110 you'd be better off. 110 are cheaper than 90's as they're less popular, but you'd still need another grand at least.

Just really try to take someone who knows about LR's to see it before you commit. Chassis & bulkhead rot are the big killers. Just try to assess whether it lokks like it's had a hard life. If it has & it's an early non TDi turbo the engine may need substantial work sooner rather than later..........unless the service history suggests it's alrewady had a lot done. Read it all first, well!

there are some decent td's out there , if you look after them they do do the job, just a tad slower..
