Hi.
I'm in Saudi Arabia with a 98 Disco. Just realised that the 'on' light no longer illuminates when I press in the air ciculation button (although the air con does appear to be as cold as usual - which is odd but subjective). As its hotter now than hells pavement could someone advise from experience whether possibly the bulb has blown but the switch still works or am I just being a hopeful amateur. I don't want to remove the central console as the plastic is so brittle. Can the switch be tested without removal?

Also where I can get hold of a new switch? (UK based).

Thanks

You can't test the the switch without removal, but if you have a wiring diagram u can trace and test the circuit the switch operates which will tell you the switch is functioning.
Or you can listen to an AC relay in the drivers footwell clicking in and out when the switch is operated with the ignition switch switched on.
There a few suppliers of the switch, just Google STC1863 as I did, here's one of them.

And it's POETS day again :)

Many thanks Discool. I've brought from r-bros before, they're good.

Btw how did you know to know the part was STC1863? (No crystal ball? )

Parts book :D

Hihi thanks. Anyway I'm pretty sure the switch works so it seems just an illumination light gone. I'll leave it as it is me thunks. Many thanks for your help though!

Thanks Paul! I had a look at it yesterday afternoon, and the plastic around and inside the heater controls is very brittle. The previous owner should have garaged the car. I don't think I'll change the bulb as long as it works and dos the best it can.
