i've just got myself i first landrover discovery 2 TD5.

there is a loud screech around the left of the engine, at 2800rpm
which comes and goes. now i think it's the drive belt (well i hope it is)
but whilst i was poking around i looked into the ACE tank, and it looked like very thin mud? is this right?
and if not how do i go about changing the fluid.
many thanks in advance

It's good to change the fluids at a new bought car,to be on the safe side. The ACE fluid is a green one, called EXTREME CLIMATE PAS FLUID,going also in the power steering reservoir.Normal aspect is like brake fluid, but light green. There is also a filter in the valve block under the right side front seat,a little expensive but is good to change it. You can use a large syringe to take is out of the reservoir and complete with the new one. While some old fluid will be still in the system, it's good to repeat it a few times to dilute the old "muddy" fluid.

this is what i was thinking, as i've only just got the car i was going to give it one heck of a service, including the ACE filter, but didn't seem much point unless i changed the fluid in the system too. so i'll do as you surgest, :bounce:
