I have managed to get an A bar, bull bar, nudge bar not 100% sure of the correct name it's the plastic Landrover one for my P38 just the centre A section.I have the brackets that bolt on above the bumper and to the back of the A bar plus the spot light bar should there be something to secure the top of the bar to the front slam panel ?. I have not started to fit it yet but I suspect just using the two brackets the top of the bar is going to bounce back and forth, could be wrong I often am.

The one I took off mine had a couple of strips like meccano that fitted onto the slam panel bolts. Are there any signs of anything missing from the back of the top of yours?

Sorry, if you're a whippersnapper, meccano was metal strips with holes punched at regular intervals. :D

When I fitted the wrap around 'Nudge Bar' on my old P38, I made the bracketes that bolt the bar to the inside of the bumper.

It is them also supposed to have brackets on the side of the 'wrap around' parts to prevent them moving about, but found just the two centre brackets sturdy enough.

Now, depending on the manufacturuer you may need these upper brackets to secure the top of the A bar to the slam panel.....I am sure the OEM LR A Bar doesn't need them as the top of the bar extends above the bonnet.

No doubt would be easy enough to fab some up if needed....

Check under the top bar of the A Bar or on its rear face and see if you have fixing holes for said brackets....

Fecking ugly:eek:
I thought all this frontal hardware was illegal these days?

It is if it's metal and is likely to damage some tit that walks into the road in front of you. But if it's made from plastic and totally bloody useless in a bump it's ok. As i said useless adornment. :D:D

as I understand it,illegal to sell, legal to fit.

So if you steal one it's ok then.

Your statement does however seem plausible.

From 25th May 2007 for motor vehicles categorised as M1 (a passenger carrying vehicle not exceeding 3.5 tonnes and not more than 8 passengers) or N1 (a goods vehicle not exceeding 3.5 tonnes) it will only be legal to manufacturer and sell bull bars that comply with EU Directive 2005/66/EC.

It will be illegal to manufacture and sell bull bars that do not conform to this legislation punishable by a maximum penalty, to be imposed within the UK, of 12 months imprisonment and/or a fine of £20,000.

Operators of vehicles already fitted with these devices will not be affected

Thanks for the reply's, I am far from a Whippersnapper used to have a set .I will fit the thing and see how it pans out if I have to I will get the brackets made up sounds like it may not need them.

Can a person get a bull bar with a winch mount hidden behind the bar so it is functional but not visible as to keep the ascetics clean and tastefully Range Rover?

If you ever get into a situation that needs a winch in a P38, you will need more than a winch as all the electronics will give up.

I was thinking about muddy conditions like around where I live!! Even as little as 2 inches of mud on a 45degree 60 foot hill. Basically you could put it in neutral and at no risk of sliding sideways or backwards on the hill just pull yourself up gently!! I certainly agree with you on the electronic problem but there are many different situations it would be a great addition

Do you live in a field? :D:D:D

Think 996Turbo does one that hides under the bumper.

I had a total Mum rage incident over these bull bars. So after that I took off the ones I had and sold them to someone else.I found they created noise from vibrations. Seems someones always got a bee under the bonnet. I agree, that if you stand in the path of a vehicle then wear a rabbit suit, because you are asking to be road kill. Not eaten Human yet, does it go with a nice wine. Any suggestions ?

I've got the A bar on mine, and just bought the full wraparound version to fit (was going for a good price - and gives me an excuse to finally paint one black to match the rest of the vehicle and then swap it over!).

My view on the whole 'pedestrian friendly' thing with them is that whether you have the thin piece of steel, covered in foam rubber there or not isn't the real issue.... the real problem is the near 2 1/2 tonne behind it that will do the real damage to a person. There is nothing really pedestrian friendly about the front of a P38 with or without the A-bar... the bumper is plastic, yet - but even that has a steel frame behind it...

I haven't eaten human before either - but apparently we are more of a 'white' meat like chicken - so probably a crisp sav or chardonnay would go well... I wouldn't know as I don't drink wine!! :D

I don't drink wine either!!! I actually live in western Canada 2 hours east of the Canadian rockie mountains and literally thousands of miles of off road trails in some of the most stunning views in the world!!!! A person could spend an entire life time exploring the area for fishing lakes and out door adventure and not cover half the area!!! The terrain variety is a variety of peatmoss to iceroads at 5000 foot above sea level!! Various green shades of trees stretch out thousands of miles !!! I really can't put it into words the rockies have to be seen for ones self!!! Traveling north from here in the winter a person could take the ice roads to the artic ocean and beyond in no time at all!!! It's an amazing place!!!
