i just rebuilt a 99 2.5 that has been dead for months the note book symbol is on and it is as if it wont rev above 3000 rpm in drive but i revs freely in park can anyone help

Is that Drive when the vehicle is stationary? Most automatics will 'stall' around 2500rpm as the torque convertor can't slip anymore.

never assume anything my car has done 72000 with full history and i changed the fuel filter and the problem is sorted. it just goes to show it only gets done if you do it yourself

Sounds like the 'puter has gone into 'get you home mode' you will need it hooked up to testbook or rovacom to get faults cleared is my guess!!

When you turn on do you get any beeps along with the note book symbol?

yes that sounds familiar drove it home and its still not quite right

Handbook says if it bleeps 3 times when you turn the starter switch on it is a critical fault!! and to take immeidiate corrective action!!! Should also be accompanied by an error message on the message center.

Does it have EGR?? If so you will have a MAF sensor on the air intake pipe. have you checked that??

Also check the leak off tubes for any signs of cracking and splitting.

When you say its still not quite right, whats not quite right??

no power it was awful i took it to lrr john put it on test and it said ambient temp sensor but i dont seem to have one on mine i reset the cam and pump timing and it is a lot better im looking for a powerbox now and that should sort it
