Hi all, I have been browsing this forum for a good while and the information you guys give out seems to be excellent so hoping you all can help me.

I own a 97' 4.6 HSE with 132, 000 miles and up to about 2 months ago haven't really had any problems with it.

Now though I have a couple of problems: -
1. The HEVAC and radio both aren't working, the HEVAC unit screen is fully lit green but no info on it and none of the buttons work at all, not ideal in this weather, lol. The radio isn't lit up at all.

2. The electric drivers seat will move up and down but not back and forward, and unfortunately is stuck too far forward for me...typical, lol.

Hope someone could give me some info on where to start to sort all this out.

check plugs on BECM under driver seat for good connections - C1276 pin 6 feeding HEVAC Unit.
Does the cig lighter socket have power?
 
Thanks for getting back to me so soon.

I've checked the fuses and relays in the engine bay and all are 100% and it is also a new fuse box which I replaced in the summer as the old one had burnt on relay 7.
As for the under the seat one I'll do that tonight and hopefully find something that will fix these problems, as without this range rover I can't get out of my house in the snow, living half way up a mountain isn't good at this time of year, lol.
Does checking the becm connections involve taking the seat out?

No, there is fuse flap in the seat base.
Open the door, look at the seat, crouch down a little and you'll see the fuse cover..:)
 
Cheers LRO I'll check them tomorrow morning when it's lighter outside. I'm hoping it's not the becm that's at fault as I think that could be a costly repair.

Contrary to what peeps say the BECM is very reliable. The good old P38 gets a lot of undeserved flack..!
Hope you get it fixed easily, if not I'm sure you'll get the right advice on here where to look next..:)

The whole plastic surround at the base of the seat will come off to give access to the becm, a couple of plastic studs and maybe a fastener or two if I remember.
 
Sorry for not getting back to this earlier but have been flat out with work and haven't had any time to look at the Range Rover. Finally got the problem sorted with the HEVAC/Radio and 12V socket yesterday. It was the connections at the back of the BECM which when pushed further in and wiggled about, made everything work again.
Touch wood now now everything is working 100% and it's a pleasure to drive again.
Just now need to get a new set of tyres, thinking of General AT2 or their new AT, hopefully head in tomorrow and get get some prices for these.
 
Preferrably get under there again when you have a mo, unplug the connectors and contact-clean em. stitch in time and all that!
