Hi ..new to the forums...just purchased another Landy...my first for a long long time..previously owned a battered 110 and in my teens had a nice S2..but that was all a long long time ago...taken the plunge with a relatively new TD5 (10 yrs old) it will do some gentle off road (tracks) but most of its life will be trailering on the road and some relatively longish journeys on a fast A / motorway.. So my ask is...which road tyres do you guys recommend and will a polybush set make my truck less jiggly ? Have noticed the wheel balancing weights....each front wheel has a motherlode of metal on them...the rears have none ?

Oh..sorry no idea of forum protocol....The main issue is vibration between 60 -70 mph seems to come from the motor…if I freewheel @70 …silence …when re engage motor rough! It is the same when accelerating in or out of gear…when the motor is at the higher end of rev range (required for 70 mph blasts up the 303 twice a week) it’s a droning booming sound…..make it uncomfortable to get past 60 and I know its ok to cruise at 70 all day long…especially when not towing …..any thoughts appreciated….K

Check your ujs and bushes , check your prop shafts are not out of balance and generally put on axle stands and give everything a good tug and push and see if anything is loose.

Yes, change your bushes. Poly bushing my Disco turned it from a Thames barge into a racing mini.
BFG all terrains for your tyres.

For all those interested! I swopped the fronts BFG with the rears Conti's as informed sidewall on BFG very unforgiving..? anyhow did not like the amout of balance weights on there...Falmouth tyres ...rebalance and its much much much better...like its had a sterring damper fitted!
Phew..now just the misfire on idle to get sorted....

TD5s are surprisingly good motorway cars in my opinion. It's easy to keep up with modern traffic and a whole lot faster and quieter than it was in a Series 2 many years ago. Performance in 5th is a bit leisurely, so lane changing in dense traffic needs careful judgement. Mine gets a bit of speed specific vibration when it needs a propshaft UJ renewing. it's detectable in the vibration before you can feel it when wobbling the joints by hand, so keep an eye on the propshafts.

i rack up relativily high miles in my defender had bfg a/t on for the last 10k,virtually no wear and very quite on the road,agree with all the above comments on the steering but they do wander a bit,as a quick check try swapping the wheels around to rule out a buckle
