Hello all I haven't been here for a long time since I sold my MK1 freelander but now I am thinking of getting a defender the question is do I go for the 90 or 110, I like the look of the 90 but I am not sure about only having 4 seats and not a lot of space in the back where as the 110 I get both.
so how does the 110 compare on the road and with running costs,
I am interested in your views,
cheers Mark
ps. I am looking around 2010 Reg

90s are small. So is the fuel tank.110s turn like a locomotive. It really depends on what you want it for and how you'll use it. And budget of course.

If ur considering regularly carrying more than one passenger or any load bigger than a 24 pack of bog roll go with the 110SW

If you regularly carry more than 1 passenger for any distance I'd go for a 110. I have the four individual tip-up seats in my 90 which are good enough for pub runs etc, but aren't great for longer distances and of course no kids going sideways. Of course, carrying passengers in the back cuts down on load space. A 110 with the bench seats removed gives room for 5 and loads of luggage space in the back. Advantages of a 90 are the slightly smaller turning circle so easier to park, plus the lighter weight. Both will pull trailers with no trouble.

Much as I love my 90, if I had my time over again I'd probably go looking for a 110. There are so many things that the 90's just a bit to small to carry. Pieces of furniture, tools, stuff needed for holidays.

And there is near enough bugger all difference in the running costs between the two.
Yes, having had a close friend with a similar 110 to my 90, it doesn't seem that different in costs. The only big difference came as a result of driving style as he seemed to like driving around in 3rd gear. But driven the same way they were surprisingly similar. The 90 doesn't seem noticeably more thirsty when you fill it up with tools, so the extra weight doesn't make too much difference to the fuel consumption.

i use mine as a van so need the space, you can get a lot of kit in a 110,i would have no chance in a 90
