is there any particular reason for doing this other than looking cool?

I did it to one of my previous landys and regretted it.

just for ease of cleaning mainly, my flat coat retriever love's mud and ****. plus will protect interior. why did you regret it?.

It made the landy noisey due to both road noise and rattles. It also caused condensation and made the landy cold inside in winter. The chequerplate is also slippery and uncomfortable to kneel on.

I ended up puting the original carpets back over the top of the chequerplate.

point taken, may be i'll have a rethink. thanks

aye, I wouldn't checkerplate the rear especially if your putting a pooch in, likely to break something we the poor bugger slides when you go round a roundabout.

I'm sure someone on ere used horse trailer floor matting like

This

I've been toying with the idea as it's not too expensive, easy to clean, durable and good for the pooch (even though I let the lil bugger ride up front most of the time anyway)

I think putting the Retrievers in a potential cheese grater (chequer pate) is almost as bad as that bint putting the cat in the wheelie bin
I have a couple of yards of bomb proof cord kitchen carpet in mine, it don't rattle, suffer from condensation, cheese grate the pads, noses and heads of dogs under heavy breaking and its easy to replace :) The dogs will like it too :)

point taken **** idea. the mutt would have had other flooring down to lie on, the best usually as i'm in the flooring trade. load liner it is.
thank you. thread closed.
