Hi there guys - I'm in need of brain picking if thats ok??

Do any of you fine people know if it would be possible to take a defender 90 pick up, take the rear tub off and fit a 110 hi capacity tub on instead? I know the rear of the cab would have to be altered/removed and the door catches would have to be jigged around etc but would the hi caps tub arches fit into the right place for the 90's rear wheels?

From pictures it looks like front of the hi cap tubs wheel arch to the cab end of the tub is a bit longer than the distance from the rear of the cab to the front of the wheel arch on a regular 90?

ANy help from you guys would be much appreciated!

Many thanks, Karl

Surely you'd have to shorten the hi cap tub to make it fit which would render the whole exercise pretty pointless?

I remember seeing a 90 with a shortened hi-cap back in a magazine ages ago, looked pretty good actually but don't know if all the work would be worth it.

few years ago i did a 100" hybrid with rear hi cap from a 130" double cab. fitted pretty well, but youd have to chop loads off a 110 rear tub to fit a 90, prob have to go all way back to the wheel arch with the cut? have a hell of an over hang to id of thought?
might be better off going for a 130 tub as not as much to cut off to start with.

the other day i saw a utilities 110 double cab with a high cap tub on the back - that might slot onto a 90 pretty nicely. that landy looked bloody good

Haven't been in here for ages, as been without a Land Rover the past 3 years.

As I may have access to a 90 and a high capacity I thought I'd reignite this thread as seems to be the only one on the topic, has anyone done it and have pictures etc?

I have seen a 110 double cab in pictures with a shortened high cap back and thinking of doing it myself but not sure on the work involved?

Hi new to the club, saw that you guys were talking about 90 hicaps and thought you might like to know that the one that you saw in the L R E maggazine and at bunny lane is my 90. It used to be a 90 county but is now a much more usable vechiel i will try and post a photo for you guys to take a look at and let me know you think!!! Ben.

Hi Ben,

Any luck putting the photos up.

I came across this picture a while ago.

It looks relatively easy at first glance, but BOB is right, there is an awful ammount of work involved. ;)

It does look a bit 'nailed' together. The gaps between the sill and tub needs filling too.

The thing that put me off in the end was that there was a lot of work and very little gain in load capacity.
