hi guys,
having some real trouble with the steering on my 90, hope you can help.

Firstly, when turning right there seems to be a lot of resistance, but turning left seems to be fine (this problem seems to stop after a few miles tho) have bled the box to check for air but nothing to report.

Second problem.. heading up to 60mph from 40 is not only a mission but the shaking through the wheel and whole truck is crazy.

has anyone experienced this, or have any ideas how to fix it.

thanks a lot

(have remould mud tyres on 16'' with 2'' lift kit)- if that helps.

I had the same problem with my 90 300tdi..And also when i got to dead on 50mph the whole landy shook like hell...Was curious oneday with the tryes..Swapped the fronts with the rears..Never had a shake since. Bfgoodrich mud terrains. I would try that and see if you have any luck

Couple of things to check, A common problem is the play in the bushes/bearing in the front steering swivel pins, if there is to much this can cause wondering and or steering vibration they can be easily adjusted by removing a shim or two. Another thing to check is the condition of the U/J's on both prop shafts as any wear in these joints can cause viration through the entire vehicle and are usually over looked when servicing. Stiff steering could be the swivel bushes as previously mentioned or a damaged steering damper, i bent the one on my disco and the steering was terrible

Thanks guys.
will swap the wheels when the rain chills out a bit..

wouldn't have thought to check the props tho! there is a little play in both props but would that justify taking them off and servicing? the steering dampener makes a hell of a noise but have ordered a new one as upgrading all steerin.

thanks

check yer tyre pressues
get yer wheels balanced
check yer UJs
check the joints in the steering system

in that order

Slight play in the U/j shouldn't cause any probs just give them a grease, the steering damper being noisy could be a problem, but as you've already ordered one change that first and drive it you will probably see a great differance

I had the same problem with my 110 and it turned out to be the U/J on the rear prop shaft. Snapped off altogether in the end
