Hello all.

I have just bought my first land rover defender 90. There is a radio installed but the ariel and speakers cables are not very neatly done are just run along the dash storage bits.

I was wondering if someone could give me some tips of how i can hide the wires in the dash?

Maybe i have to remove some of the dash to put the wires behind, if so how can i do this ?

Thanks
Cameron

:welcome: Cameron, I would suggest you post a quick introduction before asking a question, this way you'll find people will be more inclined to help you. :)

Have you got a pic ?

Mine has all the wiring for a radio but I've haven't installed 1 yet but there is a space for it with loads of room behind to put wires

@Landyfox, Thank you, i have posted an introduction to myself in the introduction section :)

@Kassieg, Here is a picture. Where abouts behind ?

The dash is fitted with a black plastic tray and the rear edge of this is raised to provide a route for the cables. If someone has run cables on top of the tray that is just because they couldn't be bothered to lift it out.
To remove it you need to take out the windscreen demist tube and a few other parts but it is only held in place with a few plastic clips and comes out quite easily but many people dislike playing with the dash so take the easy route however untidy it may look.

There should be plenty of space, I have run several additional cables for aux circuits behind mine.

Hay Cameron it's really simple to remove and feed through. Be careful when removing the cluster panel as the speedo cable is pretty easy to snap off.

Would be good to see some pictures :)

Okay dokey will give it ago tomorrow! See how i get on. The speak cable comes down from the left and will go the centre. Will i still need to remove cluster panel?

Tried to reply earlier with a picture and it said it went away for moderation and looks like it still has not been posted, Hopefully this will work. This picture shows the cables. Which bit do i have to remove to feed cables through ?

I'd turn your landy the right way up first, it's still on its roof ;)

Hey Cameron it's really straight forward, a nice simple job. I'll try and post some instruction when I get back home this evening. Not really able to do so right now as I'm stuck in hospital waiting room on my mobile!!

Ps...have you any idea where you got your tax disc holder from.?! I need a replacement!! :)
