Hi, it's been awhile since I've been on here.

What with one thing or another marriage/young kids/work I haven't used my 90 for over 2 years now.

Recently I've decided to get it back on the road and although I was running it once a month regularly lately I haven't. Problem is it won't start now.

I have taken the starter motor off and given it a good clean up and I seized it. The solenoid was clicking in but nothing from the starter motor itself. I then decided to purchase a good working order 2nd hand Bosch ERR5009 starter motor from eBay which I fitted today. Still absolutely nothing, I can't even hear the solenoid clicking in. I have charged the battery recently and also tried it with jump leads connected to my car.

Has anyone any ideas what the issue could be or what I could try next ?

Thanks in advance

Jason

Check that you're getting power through the little wire when the key is turned and also check the condition of the earth straps/connections

Also run a jump lead from the starter back to the battery negative just to confirm the quality of the earth

The starter motor is now turning over and as the battery looked to be past it's best I've put a new battery on.

Problem is it still won't start just the starter motor trying its best !

I've tried priming it with the priming lever which initially didn't have any resistance so I'm guessing there's no diesel their ?

I loosened the fuel filter bleed pipe screw and while priming it did get some resistance and some fuel seeped out which I guess is a good sign ?

Any advice on where/what to check/try next as I don't think the diesel is getting into the cyclinders ?

Thanks

it should squirt out , you need ignition on to bleed system, take the outlet off lift pump see if it squirts on each pump from there

Try a squirt of cold start whilst turning it over with your foot hard on the accelerator, my old 19j was a git to start after bleeding but this always worked for me

More likely the lift pump lever is sitting on the cam lobe, try kicking the engine round a bit on the starter :)
