Hi All
Has anyone found a neat alternative to the TPS (ETC 5598). It seems to be an obsolete item.
A few companies are offering an ETC 6443, but at silly money, and this part number refers to a Canada Mexico spec engine.
Any help greatly appreciated.

So, after a week of searching it seems the whole planet doesn't have a TPS that fits straight onto this engine at a reasonable price. There are kits for TVR's that arent quite correct and someone is trying to sell a second hand original for nearly 500 quid, so its time to adapt a modern TPS to fit. Those of you running the Lucas 14 CUX ECU system be ready for this one.
I just couldn't believe how hard it is to find this part.

There are alternatives offered - as you've found, TVR sites go into this in some depth.
There's also the Rover SD1 & this site goes into a 'how to' dismantle & attempt a repair plus using another throttle pot but unfortunately that throttle pot lists as a discontinued item so I didn't see a lot of point in posting the link:

It may well become the case of finding one that's there or thereabouts & I'd suggest that the TVR is probably going to be the best - or least worst - option.

I've ended up adapting one using a Colvern CP 17 pot. These pots have the correct rotational angle, resistance values and fixing position. Just needed to make a shaft that connects the pot to throttle plate. Much more modern technology than the original, and affordable.
