Not sure on the white and blue connectors, but the switch looks like an add on. Can you see what the relay is powering?

Yea the switch is aftermarket want to put it back to standard , will chase the wires further when time allows

It's like that is it? My 90 was the same when I got it, started off as a petrol V8 then someone put a diesel V8 in (that's when I got it). Had loads of unnecessary wires all over the place and holes in the dash where switches/guages were. Ripped it all out and rewired it all moving the fuse box under the bonnet

Still struggling with this mystery relay and aftermarket switch traced the brown and white wire to the fuse box look like it does nothing

Relay has
Brown
Brown/white
Black
White

Brown - permanent live
Brown/white - I assume goes to a fuse then to the unit its powering (guessing rear window heat element)
White - switched live
Black - earth
Can check the haines manual when I get home if you want

Cheers I did have a look at the Haynes manual wiring diagrams but couldn’t see any thing with them colours

Have look at the window heater relay diagram, it's probably on a separate page.

Don't understand why that brown/white wire is linked to both sides of the fuse holder, would have thought the left hand side wire in your picture should go off to the unit its powering

Just had a look at the manual,

(NW is brown white)
Have you got a white/black disconnected wire floating around the fuse box area somewhere? This would be from the heater element.

I’ll have a look tommorrow thank u for the pic much appreciated but wg is white green which I also don’t have

Not knowing history of vehicle but judging by crimp connectors it's had major interference and could have had a partial portion of the loom replaced from another Defender
