Assuming he drove for 24 hours. yes. but if he only drove for 12 hours then that's an average speed of 183.3333333333333333333333333333333333mph

is my maths bad or is that an average speed of over 90 ? based on a round trip of 2200 ?
Sorry should have said i did stay there for a couple a days...But i did the 1100 or so miles in 1 hit, with regular breaks of course and loadsa coffee....:D

Hmm so averaging 70 to 75mph and above on spanish and Portugese roads through the mountains.. I still don't believe ya.

Worst part was outside Sevilla as road there was like a roller coaster but the rest of the trip was good as mostly motorway...give it a go and let me know it is def possible...

So if we assume that you had 4 breaks at 30 minutes each. that leaves 18 hours which equates to 61mph average. Now that doesn't sound to bad but given that approx 8 of those hours would be night driving and given the state of spanish portugese roads and the fact that you would have had to pass through towns and villages and slowing down for corners other traffic etc Maintaining an average of 61mph means that you must have spent at least half your drive doing approx 90 to 100mph.

I still don't believe you.

Give us your start and end points then and i'll stick em in my mapsource european and see what it comes up with.

Funnily enough according to Mapsource City Explorer Europe Version 9. From Bilboa which is as far north and east as you can get in spain to Lagos which is as far south and west you can get in portugal the total distance is 820miles. So unless your map readings crap Then I think someones exaggerating

Just done it on via michelin the portugal trip was roughly 1400 kms as i went from roses to roughly an hour the other side of faro, cant remember the name of the village but faro was the nearest known resort, and the uk trip is roses to swansea about 1500 kms so ok i admit im a little off on the miles:( just done a conversion portugal give or take 900miles, Uk roughly 937 miles thats based on the via michelin...but i didnt go directly by their route changed things as i went because of traffic etc so add a couple more miles on each trip also for uk i allways avoid paris puts a few more miles on the journey and a little bit more time but a lot less hassle..
Cheers

Agree on that but the main route through Spain to Portugal is a mainly motorway..the one my wife doesnt like is the road to Andorra and a local village called Cadaques...if i get the chance i will post some pics of that one cos its a cracker..not a scarey now as it was 4 yrs ago as they have got armco all the way now but quite a few have gone over....
Mostly ****ed French people on their hols.

I went down to madrid then across into portugal. It was about 10yrs ago and they hadnt built any motorways in portugal then
