Just about to head off on a 450 mile round trip in a swb diesel series 3 for the weekend. Any a you wisecracks got any advice fore i head off, or will i just plow off into the sunset?

Put some diesel in your tank .... and remember, you will never reach the sun in a series diesel especially if you're pulling a plough.
 
I`ve just done a 4 and half mile round trip. Only had to service the petrol pump, strip and service the carb and buy a re-con. cylinder head. Suggest you cut out the middle man, stick it on a truck. Sit in it and keep flashing your lights at the driver and see if he pulls over.

Heh heh heh well all you wise men sure had some usefull advice allright...

Arrived home last night, just under 480 miles all up.

And all it used (in decreasing quantities) :

Time, diesel , oil, injector fuel lines !
